We
first came in contact with one another via email when one Mitch Cheney
wrote to ask if we could trade posters. Mitch had begun designing rock
posters and wanted one of the silk-screened Copper Press presents… jobbies
we had Jay Ryan make for our two-nights of shows in Chicago a few years
back. Neutrino, Special Goodness, Lenola, Hero of a Hundred Fights,
The Purkinje Shift, Big’n, and Landspeedrecord! were the bands
that played. In trade, he sent me the first rock poster he made for
a show his band played of any significant consequence. His band, Rumah
Sakit, was asked to play with The Swords and Don Caballero. Signed
and framed, it hangs with others on the wall of my office. I don’t
know or care what it is worth, because that is something I measure
in terms of the person who made and sent it to me. And, ladies & gentlemen,
that’s pure gold. |
