Craig Ramsey and Charlie McArthur (Bears) know how to stay on the sunny side during a rainy day while still evoking the drizzling. Composed of soupy jingles and syrupy twee pop, Bears let out their harmonies in sugar coated vapors that burn like crème brulee and seep in ever so wistfully like the most delicate moments of Grandaddy’s existence. Be they churning out rustically sweet campfire melodies or some silk spun acoustic pop ditties, Shortest Day of the Year is too short for its own good.
