This lot mistakes making noise for writing songs––pretty much anyone with an amp and a couple of effects pedals can turn everything up real loud, make a hideous noise and whip out popisms for the better part of four minutes. (Well, in this case, often an interminable five to seven minutes.). That’s mostly what happens here. That’s not to say that some of it isn’t pure fun, just that it grows tiresome by the time the record’s halfway point has rolled around. Stick your head in a ceiling fan with Jesus and Mary Chain playing really loud in the background. It’ll probably be more enjoyable. And memorable, too. - Jedd Beaudoin (2007, The Daily Copper) |
