Aloha |
With Here Comes Everyone, Aloha paints pop sensibility onto a jazz-influenced backdrop, incorporating a subtle blend of percussion trickery that rivals a collegiate drum line. What lacks in frontman Tony Cavallario’s somewhat monotonous vocal delivery is replaced by multi-instrumentalists Carl Parks and T.J. Lippie, who layer the album with vintage keyboards, vibraphone and harpsichord. The vibraphone’s soft repetitiously melodic presence lurks throughout, hovering like a haunted spirit that craves attention. Less aggressive, but just as addictively catchy as instrumental techno outfit La Makita Soma’s bell usage. – Barry Engelhardt. |
