Some bands find the quirky trends of the moment, sink their teeth real deep inside them and, as ol’ Cobain would have said, milk the hybrid genre cow for all it’s worth. Not the case here with this imaginative collective that brings together the gnarly ampi-tudes of grunge and indie rock with a noble sensitivity typically attributed to shoegazer but different. Whatever. It’s cool, smart stuff that’ll make you shake your paranoid ass (“Night Striped Assasins”) or take an unemployed slacker to the local diner for an afternoon round of Guess The Pill and Its Effect (“Silver Montgomery”). Damn refreshing, deep and perfect for playing loud. – Jedd Beaudoin |
