Arbouretum
Long Live the Well Doer
Box Tree Records

Arbouretum’s Long Live the Well Doer provides an interesting mix of psychedelia, folk with a dash of world music, and about a half dozen other influences that don’t as much add up to an incongruous mush as much as they entertain and make you believe in the possibilities alive within in contemporary music. At times reminiscent of the Ants or Drakkar Sauna (two bands that throw a lot of stuff in the blender and emerge with real, fascinating stuff that holds you in its grip until the end) but always very much its own band, Arbouretum has emerged with a record meant to be cherished and on that no doubt will be even if it’s primarily on the underground. Don’t miss out on this unique outfit. – Jedd Beaudoin
