Bonde Do Role
With Lasers
Domino

Probably the most anticipated musical export from Brazil in the past year, Bonde Do Role (pronounced Bon-juh doo hole-eh) don’t give two shits about the concept of copyright law and they’ve been labeled from everything to baile funk to whatever the fuck other new genre labels that all the hipster zines pull out of their asses on a monthly basis. If you understand the native Brazilian tongue of Portuguese, you’ll probably be saying “I can’t believe they said that” after hearing some of the lyrics. The beats are a mesh of classic Miami booty bass, and ghetto tech with no shortage of cheesy guitar riffs, electro twiddles and other recognizable samples from beat man/DJ Rodrigo Gorky alongside roof raising rhymes of MC Pedro D’Eyrot and the totally bratty, hyperactive, and ass shaking flow of Marina Ribatski. Straight from the favela’s (not the band but the sound) to your speakers, With Lasers is a bumping good time from beginning to end with all the flavor and buck-wildness of a Mummers Parade, Mardi Gras, Carnival, and a hair metal hair rock concert with club rap all rolled up into one package with an 808 that thrashes like a mule. - Chris Pacifico (2008, The Daily Copper)
