Holding on For Brighter Days
Relapse

What? You thought that since this was a Relapse release that Holding on For Brighter Days would be an album chock full of insanely vivid metal cacophony? Wrong! But it’s still a great listen! This LP from Bahstan’s 27 is a nice, slow smoldering mist of trip hop for those stoned rainy days or sensual 2am listening. Flowing through realms similar to the likes of Portishead, 27 imbue their songs through the aromatic billows of coyness in the honey drizzling voice of Maria Christopher that harmonizes with the instrumental resonance to emit a subliminal feel of sub-rosa sensuality in her coos which lilt adjacently to the soupy guitars and clouds of keyboards that make Holding On a particularly ambrosial listen. - Chris Pacifico (2008, The Daily Copper)
