The Bright and Hollow Sky |
Three-fourths of Silver Scooter is back with a new project, and as one would expect, it's a little reminiscent of, well, Silver Scooter. For the uninitiated, Silver Scooter was an Austin-based indie rock quartet that put out a string of quality records (including a well-received split vinyl project with Omaha's Cursive), starting in the late-Nineties and continuing on into Y2K+. On this, their third release as The Bright and Hollow Sky, the band concentrate more on the pop end of the Scooter spectrum, as apposed to the more fleshed-out and dynamic rock arrangements of, say, The Scooter’s short-but-sweet 2000 EP Goodbye. Standouts include "Summer," and the instantly likeable "Lie Awake," both with their Richard Baluyut (Versus)-like vocal delivery. - James Reader (2006, The Daily Copper) |
