Good Goodbyes |
Featuring members of The Shins and Busy Signals, this “supergroup” has managed to create quite a buzz around itself and while some of the geek rock inflections here (namely the opening “Unhinged” and “A Million Bees”) are nothing short of fascinating, there’s neither very much new ground broken or much to recommend in the way of life-altering tunes. It’s well-crafted, professional and certainly in step with contemporary sensibilities, but it all kind of ends there, never rising above a Sebedoh/Postal Service-influenced batch of fun. Great as a collector’s item to be sure and certainly something to parade around in front of your fellow record collectors late at night but not much else. – Jedd Beaudoin |
