Of all the things that Ohio has given the world, Mortimur may be among
the best. Loud, screaming and propulsive guitar lines meeting loud, propulsive
and screaming drum parts with plenty of fat rubbery bass in between - to say
nothing of memorable tracks such as “Valley Of The Foothills,” “ISLA” and
the closing “Marie” - are all part of what makes Mortimur work.
And, along the way, the outfit has plenty of that unspoken, indescribable musical
charisma that makes this debut album easy to get excited about. Here’s
hoping that this collective can keep things moving along, progressing from
album to album to create a career long tapestry of masterpieces. Enormously
enjoyable. – Jedd Beaudoin
