March Into the Sea
Hydra Head

Just a taste of this Chicago-based outfit’s new full-length March Into the Sea envelopes the listener in a wave of heaviness that’s akin to get sucked under arms and legs in a sea of mosh and liking it. While this brand of noisy minimalism seems to be relatively popular these days (Pelican goes for a slightly more light-drenched road than some of its contemporaries) it never hurts to hear it done right - as it is here.

At twenty minutes, the opening “March Into The Sea” feels a little too short. At twelve the JK Broadrick remix of “Angel Tears” is just right. Good things from this band with more certain to come. – Jedd Beaudoin
