On their debut four-song EP, Long Island trio Rahims bring together an interesting mix of neo-mudd club, dark, quirky rock and the more muscular and shouty elements of Fugazi.

In a way, it seems a bit like what Q and not U were going for before they went disco. But there is something immediately more appealing about this EP. The overall sound is very crisp. Deep, saturated tom drums pulsate throughout most of the fourteen minutes of the record. The vocals crisscross each other and the guitars move around from speaker to speaker.

The only problem with the record is that the first three songs don't really stand out from each other. Hopefully a full length might be able to display a more versatile and expansive pallet from the band. Closer "Enduring Love" leaves the listener with a perfect excuse to expect that would be the case. It is certainly the most developed song on the EP, and displays their best grasp on melody. On this song, the production and songwriting match up in a way that gives the music a beautiful and dark overall vibe. – Larry Hess
