Former Christie Front Drive man Eric Richter returns with a body of song reminiscent of a slightly more contemporary Hüsker Dü. The album succeeds on many fronts - evoking strong emotions from the listener on “Left On” and the opening “Never In” and featuring plenty of driving (and overdriven) guitar - but by the end it becomes a largely undynamic wash of high-energy rock that fails to stick with the listener until the living end. Better than some mainstream records that attempt to cover the same musical terrain, but not strong enough to hail as a new American classic, this is ultimately an OK showing from a band with much larger potential. – Jedd Beaudoin |
