Beep Beep has garnered comparisons to the likes of Gang of Four (seems like GoF is the band to name-check this year), Wire and early-XTC. Maybe. Maybe all three on the verge of an amphetamine-fueled breakdown right next to the sink in the bathroom at the end of the hall in the local dorm. With frenetic guitars, frenetic drums, and vocals that are impossibly manic, disturbingly comforting and all about stuff you kinda gotta figure out for yourself, Business Casual, with tracks such as “Vertical Cougar” (perhaps one of the scariest/excitingest tunes since Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer”), “Oh No!” and the killa opener “I Am The Secretary,” is enough to make you throw yourself from a tenth story window just for the rush of it all. A good thing, I assure you. Best if listened to if not already under the influence of stimulants, for Business Casual is a powerful enough one on its own. Sweet Jesse this is good. – Jedd Beaudoin |
